What are some of the considerations and steps when requiring international shipping?
In order to ship overseas Ellison Horticultural require you to:
- Enquire with your country’sAgricultural Department as to whether you require an Import Permit. We encourage you to do this as early as possible as some countries can be delayed.
- Some countries can take weeks for the permit to be issued. If your Import Permit is in a language other than English, you will also need to provide us with a certified translation of the Import Permit into English.
- If our Department of Agriculture does not already have a record of your specific plants being imported into your country it will take an additional 7 – 10 business days for the paperwork to be processed. This only applies to the first time the plant is imported, any subsequent shipments will not be affected by this wait time.
- You will need to provide us with your full address and the details of your shipping agent who will act on your behalf in receiving the shipment at your airport.
- A phytosanitary certificate will be supplied, and we will require a copy of your import permit in order to obtain this.
- Please provide clear and accurate details of your shipping agent who will act on your behalf in receiving the shipment at your airport.
How are seedlings freighted and packaged?
Seedlings are shipped via Air Freight (3-to-4-day transit) through our freight agent in Brisbane. Different flight routes are chosen to suit the current climatic conditions to ensure the plants arrive in great condition. They are packed in poly boxes to insulate from heat and treated to ensure they arrive insect and fungus free.
Large seed shipments can be sent with sea freight. This is a cost-effective way to send large quantities of the hardier seed varieties due to a 5-to-6-week transit.
Shipping options available are air freight or sea freight for full container orders. Ellison Horticultural will organise Australian Phytosanitary Certificates.
